What is standard pitch (A-440)?

The simple answer is this; standard pitch is an agreed upon way that a piano should sound. Today, standard pitch is A-440, meaning that the strings from the A key just above middle C, vibrate at 440 beats or cycles per second when played. Pianos that have not been tuned for long periods of time, fall in pitch and are more difficult to get back to A-440.

What are the Credentials of a Technician / Tuner in the piano guild?

It is important to ask how long has one been servicing pianos? How was he/she trained? Does the technician have any certifications?

All of the guild members keep current with industry standards for tuning and repairing pianos.
